2025 Eastern Greene Girls Volleyball Preview – Senior Leadership, Team Chemistry, and Drive Fuel Lady Thunderbirds The Eastern Greene Girls Volleyball team enters the 2025 season with energy, unity, and strong senior leadership that Head Coach Gina Ingram believes will make this a special year. With returning experience, a deep core of athletes, and a mindset built around persistence, the Lady Thunderbirds are ready to compete at a high level. “What excites me most about this year’s team is the experience and drive of the seniors,” Ingram said. “They’ve been in the gym this summer at 6 a.m. working. Now we’re here for the season, and they’ve come back ready to work even harder. That’s staying power.” Sophie Nonte, a senior leader, shared her goals for the season: “My personal goals are to enjoy the time I get, not take anything for granted, play to my fullest potential every game, and leave the program better than it was when I joined. Off the court, I hope to finish my senior year strong academically and prepare for college.” She and her teammates have stayed active during the offseason through workouts, weight training, and summer tournaments. Reflecting on representing Eastern Greene, she said, “I’ve been fortunate to have great role models like Coach Ingram and my teachers who have consistently supported me.” Sophie is most excited to compete, make memories, and reach new goals this season, and she describes the team’s chemistry as “fun and supportive,” with seniors having played together since middle school. Reagan Kieft, another senior, emphasized leadership and team spirit: “I want to demonstrate leadership skills, approachability, and how to be a great teammate. I want to inspire my teammates, especially the younger ones, to take charge and have good sportsmanship. This season, I am most excited to celebrate the big and small wins with my teammates—they radiate joy and energy that’s so rewarding.” Reagan highlighted Senior Night against North Davies as a key moment she’s looking forward to, and she hopes to leave a legacy as someone who builds her teammates up both on and off the court. Ashlynn Bellman shared a focus on fun and camaraderie: “My main goal is to enjoy my last year. Volleyball has helped me make many close friends, and I am forever grateful. I’m excited to spend this season with my teammates and have a competitive, fun experience.” She also noted that the chemistry of the team is the best she’s ever seen, with the four seniors being close friends and supporting each other without drama. Coach Ingram also highlighted underclassmen to watch, like sophomore Breanna Hash, and the team’s strong identity of intelligence, dedication, and perseverance. “Each player has set personal and team goals, and when they reach them, we adjust and move forward. Our ability to win big rallies and stop opponents’ momentum will be key,” she said. Leadership isn’t limited to the captains—Ingram sees multiple players stepping up in various ways to guide the team. With a seasoned senior class, strong chemistry, and a culture of hard work and “staying power,” Eastern Greene Volleyball is poised for a 2025 season full of growth, memorable moments, and success both on and off the court.
